About Vidya Chetana
A brainchild of Youth for Seva, Vidya Chetana is a scholarship program initiated in 2009. The goal of the initiative is to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds access education.
Today, the program provides scholarships to students from financially challenged families who have completed 12th standard (PUC) and are enrolling in professional courses (Engineering, Medical), mainstream degree programs, or vocational training courses.
Over the past few years, we have managed to support over 7,000 children in accessing educational opportunities across fields and sectors. We offer not only scholarships but also support students holistically with multiple training modules that help their overall growth.
Social Impact
The Vidya Chetana movement has grown leaps and bounds over

Vidya Chetana and Partners Unite for a Cleaner, Greener Hubli | 2nd Mar, 2025
Vidya Chetana organized a Clean-Up Drive, In collaboration with Dr. Shri Nanasaheb Dharmadhikari Pratishthan and in-house partnership with Hubli Cluster, Youth for Seva, The Event was organized near Gokul Road, Hubli, on March 2, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM.
A total of 22 Vidya Chetana & Prof M G Gadad scholars actively participated in this initiative, demonstrating their commitment to environmental responsibility and community service.

✨ Celebrating a Proud Milestone! 🎓
We are delighted to share an interactive and informative update from the Vidya Chetana initiative. An online Graduation Ceremony was successfully conducted to celebrate the achievements of our medical scholars.
Five medical students supported through the Medical Scholarship sponsored by Saloni Heart Foundation (SHF) and implemented by Vidya Chetana, Youth for Seva, with student identification and examination support from Zindagi Foundation, have successfully completed their MBBS in FY 2025–26. The scholars are now stepping into the next important phase of their journey as they begin their medical internship programs.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of SHF Board Members and Directors, along with a Director from Zindagi Foundation, who interacted with the students, listened to their inspiring journeys, and shared words of encouragement as they move forward in the medical field.
It was a heartwarming moment as the graduating scholars shared their experiences and gratitude, reflecting on the support that helped them reach this significant milestone. Graduation certificates were also presented to the students, marking the successful completion of their medical education.
We congratulate the graduates and wish them the very best as they continue their journey to serve society through healthcare and compassionate medical service.

On 25th January, an interactive session was organized for students supported under the VidyaChetana and Prof. M. G. Gadad Program from villages near Bagalkote, including Teradal, Rabakavi, Banahatti, Hosur, Jamakhandi, Sanal, Koodalasangama, Gangihal, Hunagund and Murakanakere, at Banahatti. A total of 44 students participated in the session. The interaction focused on general do’s and don’ts of the scholarship, along with one-on-one interactions with each student to understand their academic progress and challenges.
This was followed by a clean-up drive as part of a volunteering activity, encouraging civic responsibility among the students. The session concluded with breakfast for all participants and informal networking among the students. Additionally, 19 home visits were conducted to better understand the students family backgrounds and living conditions.

Heritage Visit & Cleaning Drive at Melukote Sri Cheluva Narayana Swamy Betta organized by Vidya Chetana Scholars.
During the cleaning drive, the team collected 13 bags of garbage, with 42 VC students and 2 YFS full-timers participating, along with three Mysore VC students.
The visit also included Sri Bhoovaraha Swamy Temple and Sri Venugopala Swamy Temple near KRS, Mandya, where Chiguru certificates were distributed to VC students.

How does it work?
Engagement Within Scholarships
There is a streamlined process we follow to ensure that scholarships are awarded to deserving students across communities. The process includes:
- Selection Process: Our team of dedicated volunteers goes through each application thoroughly to identify the eligible students for the scholarship. The selection process is a combination of the needs and abilities of each student.
- Disbursement of Scholarships: Selected students are categorized stream-wise and granted funds accordingly.
Engagement Beyond Scholarships
Our goal at Vidya Chetana is not just to produce academically proficient students but to ensure that these students develop into positive, fully-rounded individuals who will contribute to society and the country in the future. As part of this goal, we have a bunch of initiatives that engage students across various verticals, including:
- Career counseling for Class 10 students (based on their area of interest)
- Orientation program
- Residential camp
- Life skill sessions
- Motivational talks
- 21st-century skills sessions
- Observing events: Independence Day, Vivekananda Jayanti, etc.
- Field visit/Patriotic visit
Volunteer with Vidya Chetana
Beneficiaries of the Vidya Chethana program are also required to complete a certain number of hours of
volunteering as part of the program.
