Overview

The Youth for Seva Gurugram Chapter was launched in April 2017 to inspire local
volunteers to participate in social change. Initial efforts focused on college
campuses, quickly attracting hundreds of student volunteers for diverse community
projects. By 2018, the chapter had grown to over 200 active volunteers, building a
strong platform for educational and health programs, mentoring children, and
organizing awareness events across Gurugram. This ongoing dedication has made
YFS Gurugram an important contributor to civic engagement and social
development in the region.

Our Programs

Abhyasikas

While schools play an important role in furthering education, some students need additional support. Abhyasikas are YFS initiatives that provide free tuition centers aimed at helping children who live in challenging home environments focus on their studies and secure a better future. These centers also help minimize children’s exposure to hostile environments, keeping them safe in the process.

Career Awareness

Understanding the daunting question many students face—”What do you want to become?”—YFS has initiated the Career Awareness Program to help guide students. Given the rapid changes in industries and career paths, this program provides clarity and insight into different professions and opportunities.

NMMS

We actively assist students in government schools by providing targeted support for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) exam. This support ranges from providing study materials, conducting mock tests, to organizing workshops.

Summer/Winter Camp

Summer Camps play a huge role in the development and nurturing of a child. Camps offer a playful and interactive environment where children can learn important life skills. We believe that comprehensive and interactive education is an equitable right for everyone. Hence, we introduced the Summer/Winter Camp program, to equalize access to fun activities for everyone!

Plantation Drives

Conservation of biodiversity can no longer be regarded as an exoteric exercise on which the very existence of all life depends. To help bridge the gap we conduct multiple plantations drives across the country. We engage volunteers in sapling plantations together with following up with the growth of the saplings and maintenance.

Navoudit

The word “Navoudit” translates to “budding” The main idea behind this program is to furbish the cultural and extracurricular talents of these children, and provide them with a platform to showcase them.

Seed Ball Making

Volunteers gather seeds from local trees and plants to create seed balls. These seed balls, which contain a mixture of soil and seeds, are later dispersed in open areas to encourage natural reforestation and plant growth.

Child Health Awareness Program

This program aims to help adolescents become responsible and healthy citizens by addressing adolescence changes, mental health, peer pressure, addiction, and providing counseling through structured sessions.

Menstrual Hygiene Awareness

We conduct awareness sessions to educate young girls and women about menstrual hygiene, aiming to break taboos and provide practical knowledge on managing menstrual health. These sessions include information on proper hygiene practices, the use of sanitary products, and the importance of health during menstruation.

These camps provide health screenings and support to communities, promoting overall wellness.

Navoudit

Chiguru is a talent showcase event involving children from government schools and informal educational spaces. It is a program that takes more than a month’s preparation and culminates in a grand celebration of the diverse talents that the children possess.
