Chiguru
A Platform to Showcase Talent

Chiguru (meaning to sprout) is an event that includes month-long preparation that culminates in a single day of talent display by children. The event includes students from government schools and non-formal educational institutions. Chiguru is an annual cultural event we conduct to showcase the talent of children from various backgrounds.

Chiguru is a special program in different ways in different locations in India. Local forms of dance and singing take center stage in most cases, this includes Yakshagana, Dollu kunita, and Gamaka singing in Karnataka and Kuchupudi in Hyderabad.

Objectives
  • To bring together children from various backgrounds.
  • To highlight the talents of children.

Social Impact

Chiguru in Various Flavors

Chiguru has various names across the country and is associated with different art forms. Ankur includes Odissi, Sambalpuri, and Santali in Odisha. Further, the Navoudit program in Bihar focuses on encouraging Chatt Geet, Lok Geet, and the Jhumar Dance. It is a treat to watch the smile on each child's face when they leave for the day.
