Our Philosophy: Rooted in Runa and Yajna
At the heart of Youth for Seva’s philosophy lie the timeless Bharateeya values of Runa and Yajna. Runa, or “the debt,” reminds us that no accomplishment is purely individual. Our lives are deeply interwoven with the contributions of countless others—parents, teachers, friends, and even strangers who make our day-to-day lives possible.
Even something as simple as a glass of water connects us to a vast network: from the river, the clouds, and the trees, to the unseen hands that help deliver it to our homes. Recognizing this interconnectedness evokes a deep sense of gratitude and responsibility.
This understanding naturally leads to Yajna—a spirit of selfless service and giving back. Through organized volunteering, Youth for Seva channels this ethos into action, building a society powered by gratitude, service, and collective well-being.
Programs
India faces challenges in education, healthcare, livelihood, environmental sustainability, and rural development, limiting opportunities for underprivileged communities. Youth for Seva mobilizes socially conscious individuals through structured volunteering to address these issues. Key interventions include education programs like Vidya Chetana, Health Awareness campaigns, livelihood training centers, integrated rural development, and environmental initiatives such as plantation drives.
Through these efforts, the organization directly impacts over four lakh beneficiaries annually, engaging nearly 40,000 volunteers, 410 partner NGOs, and 140+ corporate partners. These initiatives lead to increased access to education, improved health awareness, skill development, and stronger rural communities. In the long term, these outcomes contribute to a self-reliant society where individuals actively participate in societal well-being. The success of this model relies on sustained volunteer engagement, corporate and government collaboration, and active community participation.
Our Impact
Youth for Seva is India’s largest structured volunteering organization, mobilizing citizens towards
nation-building through selfless service. We engage regular volunteers, college students, and corporate
professionals across the country in grassroots-level initiatives that create real social impact.
In 2024–25, our Hand Multiplier Index (HMI) stood at 13, meaning each core team member enabled 13 active
volunteers to contribute effectively. Together, our dedicated volunteers contributed over 18 lakh hours of service a powerful testament to the collective spirit and impact of volunteering across India.
