YFS volunteers from Computers Associates (CA) coached students of Standard VIII, whose annual parental income is less than Rs 1.5 lakhs, for NMMS (National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship) talent examination. The scholarship provides INR 500/- per month for a period of 4 years, upon clearing the examination.
The volunteers trained the students at ZPHS, Serilingampally every morning from 8-9AM, for a duration of 3 months. The students were coached in Mathematics, Science and Social Studies, before school and office hours on weekdays, and for longer periods on weekends. They also arranged for required resources, prepared test papers, conducted mock parliaments and conducted experiments to help the students understand better.
The time dedicated by the volunteers and the persistent efforts of the students paid off, resulting in 6 students winning the scholarship.
The volunteers plan to continue coaching the students for the same, and expand their efforts to more schools in the upcoming academic year. If you want to be a part of the same, do write to us at firstname.lastname@example.org
