WASTE MANAGEMENT AWARENESS AND IMPLEMENTATION
WHY?
Ever thought of what happens to your garbage that you throw out of your house? It is picked up by your pourakarmika in the push cart. It is sent to a black spot and dumped there. While waiting to be picked up by the lorry, the animals have a field day eating everything including plastic.
But what does the lorry do? The contractor then goes and dumps it in a village on the out skirts of the town. Both the ground water and soil get contaminated. This same soil is used for agriculture and the same ground water table is used by us to consume water!!
To make more space in these landfills, the waste is burnt routinely. Fatal dioxins, carbon dioxide, nitrous oxides are released.
Landfills are also a source for carbon dioxide and methane emissions which cause global warming.
HOW?
Start segregating waste at home!! To support your effort, Green Commandos conducts regular training sessions on how one can manage waste. Also, training sessions on how to create awareness in one’s neighbourhood are regularly conducted. Join this project and reduce yours and Bangalore’s Carbon Footprint drastically.
